Church attacks Labour for betraying Christians
Strongest criticism of Government in decades - From The Times, June 7, 2008.

I have mixed feelings about looking to any government to "help" Christians. We rely upon God by faith in Christ.

Yet, some nations owe their existence in part to the sweat of Christian prayers, sufferings, and actions. Should not those nations, through their governments and public discourse, respect and honor the Church's teachings?

Behind whatever civility there is lie the teachings of Christ or religious morals and ethics. Therefore, any religion that proposes thoughtful behavior contributes to the general peace; any religion that proposes violence does the opposite.

Given the historical relationship between the Church through the saints in public service, it seems to follow that governments can "betray" Christians. Do you agree, or not?

What to Do? Distribution Lists that Do Not Deliver to Specific E-Addresses

The free OPINARI QUARTERLY(OQ)subscribers receive delivery of OQ by e-mail four times a year, via an attached PDF file. Carolyn Hesson and I put in many hours to plan, prepare, and format OQ. We start working together on it usually about six weeks before the delivery date.

Recently, a new OQ Columnist, a long-time Subscriber, did not receive the e-mail containing the Summer 2009 PDF edition of OQ, with her first article in it.

Troubleshooting this, I noticed that Distribution e-mail addressed normally appear like this (example): , but her e-mail address appeared as, for example, double < symbols befor e-mail address: joe@joesplace.com, with a single > after.

An extra < before the e-mail address caused the Delivery problem.

I'm reviewing names in OQ Distribution files for others glitches. One glitch has appeared so far.

Managers of Distribution Lists may not be reaching everyone on the List, unless the addresses are recorded correctly for digital delivery.

Pen Names

If you create a pen name, choose a name you can live with for as long as you write. You should find it easy to say and easy for others to remember.

Is a pen name like hiding? Not at all. Mark Twain made no secret of his legal name, Samuel Clemens. Agatha Christie the same, and Ruth Rendell and many others.

My pen name Jane Bullard is a writing name that I chose for a personal experience book. For privacy of others in the book, I wrote as "Jane Bullard" and kept on using that pen name. My given name is Jean, and my married surname is Purcell.
